MUMBAI: Go Digit General Insurance Limited received the Best Fintech Insurance Award at the FE Best Banks Awards 2026, with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal presenting the honour to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Jasleen Kohli at a ceremony held in Mumbai on June 7.
The recognition places the Bengaluru-headquartered digital insurer alongside banks, small finance banks, non-banking financial companies, and other fintechs honoured at the annual awards, which are organised by The Financial Express and have run for 18 years.
A repeat win in the fintech category
Digit Insurance said the award marks its third win in the fintech insurance category, following earlier recognitions it cited for 2022 and 2025. The company's 2025 win, announced in October last year, was presented at a ceremony attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to statements issued at the time.
The judges recognised the company for its use of technology in insurance, including digital claims processing and automated underwriting, the company said in its statement.
'Tech-driven innovation,' says CEO
"Securing this recognition for the third time is a validation of our relentless focus on tech-driven innovation," Jasleen Kohli, MD and CEO of Digit Insurance, said in a company statement. "At Digit, our mission is to make insurance transparent, faster, and more trustworthy."
Kohli has led Digit Insurance since April 2022, when she succeeded Vijay Kumar. A founding member of the company, she previously served as its Chief Distribution Officer.
Background
Go Digit General Insurance was incorporated in 2016 and began operations in 2017. It offers motor, health, travel, parametric, and liability insurance, among other lines, and is publicly listed on the BSE and NSE.
The company said in its statement that it has served more than 8.4 crore customers since inception. Digit's own website currently cites a figure of "7 crore-plus" customers; the higher figure in the award statement could not be independently confirmed at the time of publication.
Digit was founded by Kamesh Goyal, who serves as chairman. Its backers include Fairfax Financial Holdings, and the company counts cricketer Virat Kohli among its early investors and brand ambassadors.
About the awards
The FE Best Banks Awards are presented annually by The Financial Express to recognise institutions across banking and financial services. According to the organisers, winners are selected by an independent jury, with EY serving as knowledge partner, and assessments draw on regulatory data and governance standards.
Piyush Goyal served as chief guest at this year's edition. The minister has previously spoken on the role of India's fintech sector, describing it at the Global Fintech Fest in 2024 as a force that has widened access to financial services.
