Urban Company Swings to Rs 92 Crore Loss in Q1

In its shareholder letter, the company said consolidated Net Transaction Value (NTV) grew 42 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,465 crore. Urban Company also added around 1.2 million new users during the quarter, marking the first time it crossed the one-million user-addition milestone in a single quarter.

“Q1 FY27 was one of the strongest quarters in Urban Company’s history. Growth accelerated across nearly every part of the business, while the profitability of our core operations reached a new high. At the same time, we continued to invest aggressively in InstaHelp, where unit economics improved despite rapid scale-up,” the company said.

The India consumer services business, excluding InstaHelp, recorded a 31 per cent increase in revenue to Rs 356 crore. International operations in the UAE and Singapore delivered an 82 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 65 crore. The company’s ‘Native’ brand, which includes products such as water purifiers and smart locks, reported a 60 per cent increase in revenue to Rs 95 crore.

Looking ahead, Urban Company said it remains on track to achieve consolidated adjusted EBITDA breakeven by the third quarter of FY28 and continues to target around Rs 1,000 crore in adjusted EBITDA by FY31.

Shares of Urban Company settled 0.85 per cent lower at Rs 129.39 on the National Stock Exchange on Friday. The earnings were announced after market hours.

The results highlight the trade-off between aggressive investment in new verticals and near-term profitability, even as the core business and overall transaction volumes continued to expand at a strong pace.
