Aviation Veteran Willie Walsh Takes Over as IndiGo Chief Executive
Former IATA Director General Willie Walsh has officially assumed charge as Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo as the airline prepares for its next phase of international expansion.
NEW DELHI, Aug 3— Former International Air Transport Association (IATA) Director General Willie Walsh officially took charge as the Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo on Monday, as the airline aims to accelerate its next phase of international growth.
IndiGo had originally announced Walsh's appointment in March 2026. Bringing over four decades of global aviation experience, Walsh will work alongside the board and leadership team to build on the carrier’s operational foundation while guiding its strategic global ambitions.
"As IndiGo enters its third decade and stands poised for the next phase of its growth, I am delighted to officially welcome Willie as the airline's Chief Executive Officer," said Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo.
