American car buyers are leaning heavily into eco-friendly rides, helping Hyundai Motor Group notch a 5% year-over-year sales increase in the U.S. this past July. The boost was largely driven by a surge in demand for hybrid models and popular crossovers.

Hyundai Motor America reported selling 89,427 vehicles during the month—a 3.7% bump compared to last July—which includes 6,947 vehicles from its premium Genesis line. The always-popular Tucson topped Hyundai’s lineup with 19,714 deliveries, while the Elantra sedan (17,115 units) and Santa Fe SUV (13,373 units) rounded out the brand's top three performers.

Kia America enjoyed an even sharper trajectory, seeing sales jump 6.7% to hit 75,857 vehicles. The Sportage crossover led the charge for Kia with 16,083 sales, followed closely by the new K4 sedan at 12,094 units and the three-row Telluride SUV at 11,816 units.
