Nifty Falls for 7th Day as Market Pressure Persists
Nifty drops for 7th day to 24,078 as global headwinds and oil prices weigh on Indian equity benchmarks.
MUMBAI — Indian benchmark equity indices extended their downward slide on Wednesday, with the NSE Nifty 50 falling for a seventh consecutive session and the BSE Sensex closing in the red for a fourth straight day. The prolonged correction marks Nifty's longest losing streak since September 2025, driven by persistent weakness across global markets, elevated international crude oil prices, and geopolitical volatility.
The Nifty 50 declined 76.60 points, or 0.32 percent, to settle at 24,078.30, while the 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 325.78 points, or 0.42 percent, to finish at 76,909.68. Broad-based selling pressure hit mid- and small-cap segments as well, with the Nifty MidCap 100 index dropping 0.21 percent and the Nifty SmallCap 100 falling 0.51 percent.
Technical Levels and Key Market Drag
