Sensex Jumps 1,225 Pts, Nifty Tops 23,800: Key Drivers

Indian stock markets have rallied for four sessions in a row, and the reason is changing. Investors are leaving global artificial intelligence-linked trades, which have been under pressure lately, and moving into Indian companies reporting solid quarterly earnings, especially consumer brands.

On Tuesday, the Sensex jumped 1,225.07 points, or 1.62 per cent, to close at 76,917.85. The Nifty climbed 370.05 points, or 1.58 per cent, to end at 23,810.85, back above 23,800.

Consumer stocks lead the shift

FMCG stocks drove the rally. The Nifty FMCG index rose nearly 3 per cent as investors bought consumer goods companies on hopes for better earnings and demand. Nestle India and Tata Consumer Products were among the top Nifty gainers, along with BSE.
