Mumbai, August 17 — Domestic equity markets opened marginally lower on Monday as the lack of progress towards ending the US-Iran conflict kept crude oil prices elevated.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty MidSmall Financial Services was the biggest laggard, declining 0.98 per cent, followed by Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty FMCG, which slumped up to 0.9 per cent in early trade. Other sectors including realty, cement, IT, energy and private banks also traded lower.
