India-Germany Ties Can Boost AI, Green Hydrogen
New Delhi, July 30 — India and Germany are well positioned to deepen collaboration in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, semiconductors and research and development, creating fresh opportunities for innovation and industrial growth, industry leaders said on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of an industry event, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Director General Jan Noether described the forum as an important platform for strengthening bilateral industrial ties by facilitating dialogue among governments, businesses and research institutions. He noted that the success of the inaugural edition last year had prompted the chamber to make the gathering an annual initiative.
“At its peak, the economic relationship has evolved and grown at a very steady pace over the past decades. Now, it has entered a new phase of dynamism. Last year saw the highest level of bilateral trade, growing at a tremendous pace,” Noether told IANS.
He highlighted the intensity of current engagement. “At the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, we are set to receive 17 delegations from Germany this year. Likewise, several delegations from India will travel to Germany. This reflects the very strong commitment of both the German business community and the Indian ecosystem to partner, work together, and further strengthen this relationship.”
Noether also pointed to a startup competition linked to the event. Winning startups will be invited to present their products and projects at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Conference in Seoul before senior executives from leading German companies, including Siemens, Bayer and BASF. “The competition showcased many wonderful and highly innovative products. The winners will be invited to Seoul for the next Asia-Pacific Conference, where they will present their products and projects to leaders of the German industry, including the CEOs of companies such as Siemens, Bayer, BASF, and other major corporations. This further strengthens the economic relationship,” he said.
Separately, Dr Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of L&T Semiconductor Technologies, underlined the strategic importance of the semiconductor sector. Speaking at the “Advancing Atmanirbharta Conference on Design and Manufacturing,” he said the industry has become one of the most critical pillars of the global economy and technological advancement. India, he argued, must build a robust and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem to strengthen its technological capabilities and secure a larger role in the global supply chain.
The remarks reflect a shared assessment among industry leaders that the India-Germany partnership is entering a more dynamic phase, driven by record bilateral trade, increased business delegations and focused cooperation in high-technology domains. By combining German industrial expertise with India’s growing innovation and manufacturing ambitions, both sides see potential to accelerate progress in AI, green hydrogen, semiconductors and related research.
